Job Overview

Marvin Roanoke is looking for a Environmental, Health & Safety Site Supervisor to join the team. The EH&S Supervisor provides leadership and direction to the Marvin Roanoke plant, and office operations and supports our corporate business objectives. This individual provides direction and coordination of Environment, Health & Safety, internal, local, state, federal, and EPA audits, regulatory compliance and risk assessment issues, while providing leadership for related process improvements for all Roanoke business operations. The EH&S Supervisor directs training initiatives including new employee safety orientation, leads site wide efforts of an accident free, environmentally safe workplace, and promotes safety and serves as a primary resource for continuous improvement as well as VPP implementation, recertification audits, and continual compliance. This individual is responsible for reducing injuries and accidents, while managing investments and costs in all Environmental, Health & Safety programs.

Highlights of your role

- Develop, direct, assist and support corporate EH&S policies and monitor, analyze and report EH&S data and legislative/regulatory changes.

- Develop collaboratively with the EH&S Specialists and Coordinators and communicate safety notifications.

- Manage the employee safety training compliance.

- This position will also serve as a liaison between decisions made regarding interviewing potential EH&S candidates, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning, directing and evaluating work, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

- Maintain involvement with government/professional organizations such as VPP, OSHA, NIOSH, NRC, ASSE, NFPA, the National Safety Council and our Corporate Insurance provider.

- Direct the investigations of serious injuries, accidents, complaints and other issues. Implement, manage, and coordinate education and communication needs, and administer EH&S budget requirements.

- Ensure corporate policies/practices are current, compliant and administered regarding federal, state and local regulations and company requirements. Develop rules, regulations and operating procedures minimizing exposures to EH&S hazards and risks.

- Develop and maintain responsibility for all Marvin Roanoke controlled EH&S policies, plans, programs and procedures.

- Monitor, analyze and report EH&S data while providing informative and progressive programs. Inform appropriate parties of recommended compliance/communication changes.

- Manage OSHA, VPP, ISO 14001, employee health and wellness, ergonomics and other training needs and improvement programs.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Annual professional development in addition to the required education/training of this position.

- Accountability measures include OSHA incident rate, annual safety improvement plan, program and training compliance, and continue to reduce Marvin Roanoke operational costs.

 

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)

- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college/university in a related field preferred, or two-four years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Organizational development or training and development experience in a manufacturing environment preferred; experience in EH&S operations and program implementation and management in a manufacturing environment preferred.

- OSHA 30-hour class is preferred and OSHA compliance experience required. Hazwoper 40-hour class is preferred. Environmental courses preferred and environmental compliance experience required.

- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to learn proprietary software operations.
