Job Overview

The Material Science Co-Op will range from 3-8 months based on students’ availability, area of expertise and interests.  (Please indicate the period of time you are interested in co-oping or interning). Looking for students who are actively pursuing a BS in one of the following or similar disciplines (2nd year or higher preferred): Materials Science and Engineering, metallurgy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering, Sustainable Systems Management or Statistics.

 

Hiring for January- August 2026 and May - Dec 2026

Highlights of your role

  • Conduct research and testing on materials use and applications
  • Complete projects related to materials development and utilization, building science, reliability, and sustainability
  • Laboratory testing of materials using advanced analysis and exposure instrumentation
  • Analysis, reporting and presenting research results
  • Equipment calibration procedure development and documentation

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)

  • Experience in safe laboratory practices
  • Knowledge of scientific test planning and statistical data analysis
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
