Job Overview

The Lumberyard Load Builder at the Marvin Home Center is responsible for preparing and loading materials onto delivery vehicles, ensuring accurate orders, safe handling, and efficient loading processes. They work in a fast-paced environment, often interacting with customers and fellow employees, while maintaining a clean and organized lumberyard.

Highlights of your role

  • Loading and Unloading: Accurately pulling and staging materials based on order instructions, loading trucks, and unloading shipments.
  • Material Handling: Utilizing proper techniques to prevent damage, ensuring materials are properly secured for transport, and operating machinery like forklifts.
  • Inventory Management: Familiarity with inventory items, their location, and assistance with incoming shipments.
  • Customer Service: Assisting customers with loading their own materials, answering questions, and resolving issues.
  • Safety and Maintenance: Adhering to safety and fire regulations, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and reporting accidents and violations.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Communicating with supervisors and drivers, coordinating with other team members, and reporting any issues or complaints.

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)

  • Ability to safely and proficiently use various tools (chop saw, table saw, etc.).
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (over 100 lbs).
  • Familiarity with different lumber species, grades, and dimensions.
  • Knowledge of material handling techniques and forklift operation.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to changing conditions.
