Job Overview

As a Senior Data Platform Architect for Marvin’s enterprise Data Platform, you will serve as a strategic leader and technical expert, responsible for designing and evolving scalable, secure, and high-performing data architecture. You will translate complex business requirements into robust data solutions, guiding the development of data models, data processing patterns, and platform capabilities that enable advanced analytics and enterprise-wide decision-making.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with data engineers, data scientists, IT analysts, and other business stakeholders to ensure alignment between data architecture and Marvin’s business strategy. You will also provide thought leadership in modern data architecture practices—including cloud-native design, data mesh principles, real-time data processing, and master data management (MDM)—while championing data governance, quality, and security across the organization.

Highlights of your role

  • Architect Scalable Data Solutions
Design and evolve enterprise-grade data architecture that supports analytics, reporting, and operational use cases across Marvin’s business units, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
  • Lead Platform Technical Strategy and Roadmap
Define and drive the strategic technical direction of Marvin’s Enterprise Data Platform, aligning architecture decisions with business priorities, ERP modernization, and the long-term data vision.
  • Enable Advanced Data Capabilities
Guide the development of data models, data processing patterns, and platform capabilities—including real-time data flows, cloud-native services, and master data management (MDM)—to support advanced analytics and AI/ML initiatives.
  • Collaborate Across Teams
Partner with data engineers, data scientists, IT analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure cohesive data architecture and seamless integration with enterprise systems, including ERP and other core platforms.
  • Champion Governance and Best Practices
Promote data governance, quality, and security standards across the organization, while introducing modern architecture practices such as data mesh, domain-oriented design, and metadata-driven development.

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)

  • Extensive expertise in database design, data modeling, and data engineering, with a strong understanding of relational and dimensional modeling techniques.
  • Deep familiarity with modern data architecture concepts, including Data Hub, Data Lakehouse, Data Fabric, and Data Mesh.
  • Proven experience with cloud data warehouses, particularly Snowflake and DBT, supporting scalable data architecture, storage, and analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and guide analytics initiatives, from concept through implementation, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Proficiency with data modeling tools, such as Erwin (preferred), and a strong understanding of metadata management.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, especially Azure and Snowflake, including compute, storage, and security services.
  • Experience with data ingestion and transformation tools, such as Fivetran (preferred), and familiarity with ELT/ETL best practices.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with a track record of defining and promoting data standards, guidelines, and architectural best practices.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate business needs, designing data solutions that scale with organizational growth and complexity.
  • Ability to align data architecture with complex business operations, ensuring solutions support enterprise systems, including ERP platforms.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Also want to make sure you have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise data platform development, with a proven track record of designing and implementing scalable data solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience working with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure), including hands-on experience with data modeling, data pipelines, and analytics enablement.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide data initiatives, including ERP integration, master data management (MDM), and advanced analytics.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams, influencing architectural decisions, and aligning data strategies with business goals.
