Job Overview

In this position, you will be responsible for supporting Product Groups in meeting their goals. The use of Engineering principles and CI tools will be used to establish current state and develop future state plans.

 

As Manufacturing CI Engineer, you will also support projects and equipment acquisition. Knowledge of layout planning, work procedures, cost impacts, crewing guidelines, and takt time impact are crucial to successful support.

The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing process improvements across operations to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality. This role supports the organization’s strategic goals by applying Lean, Six Sigma, and other CI methodologies to drive sustainable improvements in productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction.

 

As a CI Engineer you will support daily issues preventing Production from meeting their goals. Spend time on the production floor, identifying opportunities for improvement while also building strong relationships with production staff, leadership, and other support departments. Spend time on tasks related to ongoing projects or research opportunities for future projects.

Our team’s success is crucial to the growth and continuous improvement of the Grafton location.

Highlights of your role

  • Lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other CI tools.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvement projects.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and problem-solving sessions to address quality and performance issues.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on CI methodologies and tools to employees at all levels.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of CI projects, including KPI and ROI.
  • Support the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the organization.
  • Benchmark best practices and stay current with industry trends and technologies.
  • Lead Model Line development efforts to demonstrate and scale best practices across operations.
  • Design and deliver Model Line training programs to ensure consistent understanding and application of CI principles.
  • Eagerness to ask questions and talk through details you don’t understand.
  • Willingness to gain an understanding of the daily challenges on the production floor

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, operations, or quality environment.
  • Proven experience leading CI projects and applying Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Certifications (Preferred)
    • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
    • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, Power BI, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence change.
  • Knowledge of process mapping, value stream analysis, and statistical process control.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
