Job Overview

Role is responsible for research, planning and testing materials for R&D, materials supply, and operations initiatives. Work with operations to assess materials manufacturing process for continuous improvement opportunities at Marvin manufacturing locations.  Search for new innovative materials and methods. Improve current material validation and incoming inspection techniques in a production friendly, low-cost manner. Also aids in the development and/or improvement of products while successfully meeting or exceeding Marvin’s goals.

Highlights of your role

  • Materials qualification: Research, test and assist in the selection of materials for use in the manufacturing of windows and doors. Create test plans to validate designs. Serve as a technical liaison with materials acquisition team, suppliers and design teams.  
  • Materials testing: plan and conduct testing of materials to support material qualification and continuous improvement efforts with operations teams and materials suppliers.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support related to materials for other departments throughout the company.

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)

  • B.S in Materials Science and engineering, Metallurgy, Bioproducts engineering, or other engineering or science fields with a materials focus.
  • Technical understanding of materials composition, materials behavior, materials manufacturing, and application assessment.
  • Knowledgeable of statistical based test planning, DOE, and data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of materials analysis techniques and test methods related to polymers, wood, coatings, metallurgy, and/or glass.
