Job Overview

The Senior Product Portfolio Manager provides product management leadership to cross-functional development teams. This role will keep the Customer at the center of development projects by maintaining a strong understanding of their needs, the market, and collaborate to ensure that products are differentiated in ways that reinforce our brand-level value proposition. This position leverages strong product management fundamentals, business acumen and strategic thinking to drive business outcomes and growth for the organization while working hand in hand with the Collection Business Team. The Business Team is tasked with creating and driving the overall vision & strategy along with defining goals and metrics to track and achieve the desired business outcomes.   

Highlights of your role

Product Line Strategy (30%) 

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop a strong product roadmap for area of responsibility to achieve business objectives and growth expectations 
  • Actively input into product planning and prioritization process, and Long-Range Product Planning (LRPP) 
  • Partner across the Business to draft business cases to support growth opportunities and inform decision making. 
  • Develop and maintain market, customer, and product expertise via assessment of market needs, synthesizing market research data, primary Voice of the Customer (VOC), design research, and competitive trends monitored and managed through product option sales information. 
  • Deliver insights to the Business on product line & market trends to help inform decision making. 
  • Ensures the appropriate mix of projects are active to achieve revenue & profitability goals. 
  • Be a key member of the Collection Business Team in the creation and execution of portfolio level strategies, the creation of tactical plans to drive desired outcomes and the appropriate metrics to drive & measure progress to goals  
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to identify, prioritize, and resolve product quality issues, ensuring alignment with customer needs and business goals. 

 

Product Management Leadership (60%) 

  • Provide Customer Centric Business Leadership to cross-functional development teams 
  • Proactively work to build relationships cross-functionally, ensuring collaboration and a shared understanding of the customer and market. 
  • Represent VOC through a Stage-Gate product development process partnering with the Insights Team 
  • Ensure project teams quickly reach decisions that help balance customer and business objectives. 
  • Translate product launch core benefits to inform successful go-to-market strategies. 
  • Ownership of pricing strategy for product line, with assistance of the Pricing Department. 
  • Partners with Marketing & Sales for effective Go to Market (GTM) execution. 

 

Product Expertise & Support (10%) 

  • Support departmental improvement initiatives. 
  • Act as an internal expert on assigned products and/or focus areas. 
  • Assist marketing to create messaging that accurately communicates product differentiation. 
  • Maintain thorough understanding of competitive product line strengths and weaknesses. 

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)

  • Bachelor’s degree, business, engineering, marketing. 
  • MBA with a marketing, leadership, finance or similar emphasis is highly desired. 
  • Experience in the building industry is highly desired. 
  • 8+ years of related and successful work experience in new product development and product portfolio management. 
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time in market for VOC and regular trips to Marvin Facilities in the Midwest 
  • Located in or near the Minneapolis/St Paul Metro area.

$143,000 - $185,000 annually
