Job Overview

Senior Design Engineer is responsible for product design activities including developing innovative designs and/or improving upon the performance and design of existing products. Will perform complex engineering analysis to ensure designs meet project goals. Oversee design schedules, test activities, and effectively communicate design status among peers, department leadership and senior leadership. Drive the implementation of lean best practices into product designs.

Highlights of your role

  • Department subject matter expert on product design, schedules and test plans to validate designs.  Adept to train and/or mentor team members on applicable knowledge of product components and designs to meet project performance goals.  Experience with lean manufacturing and analysis tools preferred. 
  • Lead complex engineering calculations and analysis.  Develop best practices for engineering analysis.  Work with vendors on part design to ensure fit, form, and function are correct. Verify all drawings have the correct dimensions and accurately represent design intent.
  • Partner with Quality, Service and Operations to drive improvements to existing products.  Lead root cause analysis and implementation of design improvements. 
  • Communicate product design activities both formally and informally among peers, department leadership and senior leadership. Work with operations, materials, marketing, sales, support, and project managers to achieve project goals. 

Compensation

$89,000 to $118,000 annually

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.S.) required; Master’s degree (M.S.) or advanced degree is preferred
  • Should have 5+ years of Engineering design and development experience; demonstrated a comprehensive track record of success on multiple complex product development and continuous improvement projects.
  • Experience in design and/or manufacturing processes required.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing preferred.
  • Working knowledge of 2D and 3D Modeling software (Inventor preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Able to lead, develop, and contribute in a team environment, possess self-motivation skills, be dependable and trustworthy
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
