Job Overview

Marvin is seeking a leader who is responsible for ensuring that the material purchasing needs of the production teams, and overall company's needs, are met. The Materials Manager will work to ensure that any quality concerns, or issues, of material are optimally addressed at the root-cause level; and strives to achieve and maintain ship-to-use status for all materials.

Highlights of your role

  • Be responsible for development, performance, and accountability of the Materials Team. 
  • Serve as a primary partner to Operations Leadership Team Members. 
  • Ensure Buyer Planners are set up for success by leading all aspects of and assisting in material ramp-up and run-down strategies and tactics, including part number establishment/transition and appropriate stocking level. 
  • Ensure the Materials team optimally partners with Fenestration Supply Chain, Quality Systems, and R&D to ensure all new/improved/modified materials meet the vital performance requirements of the end unit and its fully assembled and installed state. Including plans for initial production part approval and transition to ship-to-use status. 
  • Assume root-cause-level responsibility for material quality issues, working towards appropriate solutions. 
  • Along with other Supply Chain and Materials personnel, contribute to supplier viability assessments and contingency planning. 
  • Support Fenestration Supply Chain Leadership team for pricing, delivery, managed inventory,  and cost reductions/avoidance. 
  • Ensure Marvin’s commitments to supplier agreements are upheld through daily operations. 
  • Initiate, encourage, and drive process improvements to increase efficiency, decrease costs, improve workplace, and improve customer satisfaction. 
  • Support Supplier selection, supplier development, travel, product searches, program implementations and coordinating with other Marvin locations. 
  • Monitor inventory levels, status of MRR’s, Pholds, past due open orders, inventory turns, modifier updates/maintenance, and Controlled Warehouse accuracies. 
  • Assign tasks, assign associates to teams, attend meetings, establish and monitor budgets, place orders for R&D and Engineering for tests, licenses, buy some commodities, update pricing or monitor updates in pricing and attend training

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)

  • Proven leadership ability. Excellent communication skills, including coaching and mentoring. 
  • Supply chain knowledge & experience. APICS, ISM or other supply chain certification(s) are a plus. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication, facilitation, and presentation skills. 
  • Positive work demeanor and able to hold others accountable for their actions, behaviors and attitudes 
  • Ability to work with various manufacturing and office-based technology systems, including Microsoft programs
