Job Overview

The Senior Environmental Health & Safety Manager provides leadership and direction for the Ripley site environmental, health, and safety programs and is responsible to develop, communicate, and lead deployment of policies programs, and strategies utilizing Marvin’s values-based principles.  The Senior EHS Manager assures environmental compliance, leads and manages TOSHA STAR VPP Safety Excellence Certification, Worker's Compensation, On-site clinic, and Wellness initiatives and programs.  This role oversees training and organizational development related to these disciplines.

Highlights of your role

  • Ideate, develop, and lead site-specific Environmental, Health & Safety programs and ensure adherence to enterprise policies, programs, and procedures, at a minimum
  • Be responsible for ensuring full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Environmental, Health & Safety on leading safety and health initiatives
  • Ensure enterprise policies and programs regarding safety are compliant at a site level and administered regarding federal, state, and local regulations and company requirements.
  • Develop and update rules, regulations and operating procedures minimizing exposures to identified safety hazards and risks
  • Participate in cross-facility Environmental, Health & Safety audits to ensure maximum performance and adherence to policy and procedure consistently across the enterprise
  • Develop and execute, in coordination with other leaders, a strategic annual goal setting plan for eliminating injuries and accidents through proactive risk identification and mitigation
  • Monitor, analyze and report Environmental, Health & Safety data for trends and areas of concern
  • Act as primary lead on obtaining or maintaining OSHA VPP Star compliance
  • Keep abreast of Safety legislative/regulatory changes that may influence business functions
  • Champion the establishment of effective investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions designed to improve Safety and drive to a culture predicated on injury prevention
  • Lead the local Environmental, Health & Safety team including making hiring decisions, developing, and training team members, maintain a staffing ratio that is consistent with enterprise model
  • Manage OSHA, VPP, and employee health and wellness, as well as other training needs and improvement programs
  • Provide oversight for onsite medical clinic and first responder team
  • Participate in pilot programs for enterprise safety initiatives
  • Provides mentorship and peer leadership among EHS team members
  • Participate in annual professional development in addition to the required education/training expectations for this position
  • Understand environmental standards including NAAQS, NESHAP, CFC Regulations, GHG, NPDES, SPCC, EPCRA regulations to determine facility applicability and implement requirements to meet regulations
  • Represent and serve as the lead person pertaining to any Agency Inspections (Federal, State, Local) and internal audits
  • Monitor environmental compliance situations and implement, conduct, or direct corrective action as needed to stay in compliance, or to regain compliant status

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)

  • Subject matter expertise in OSHA standards related to manufacturing
  • Strong working knowledge of other government/professional organizations such as Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), NIOSH, NRC, ASSP NFPA, the National Safety Council
  • Ability to analyze and provide solutions from Marvin safety data sources (e.g., incident collection software, audit software, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and computer skills (Microsoft Office) 
  • Strong verbal presentation and facilitation skills 
  • Aptitude for technology 
  • Ability to influence stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with employees, leadership, and regulatory personnel 
  • Understanding of Worker’s Compensation and Return to Work process
  • Understanding of Environmental programs and requirements
  • Understanding of FM Global property insurance requirements
  • Ability to travel (<10% per year)
  • Ability to frequently stand and walk around facility
  • Experience and/or working knowledge of EPA, State, Local, OSHA, and DOT regulations, programs, and policies
  • Demonstrated ability to balance environmental compliance and services and business needs for continued success

 

Also want to make sure you have

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field strongly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and experience may be considered in place of degree.
  • 10+ years’ experience in safety related role(s) with increasing levels of responsibility
    • At least 5+ years of management experience
  • Experience in Environmental, Health & Safety leadership roles in a manufacturing environment preferred 
  • OSHA Voluntary Protection Program experience preferred
  • Currently hold or willingness to obtain additional education, safety certifications, and designations required. Designations include but not limited to:
    • CSP and/or ASP
    • SGE Certification
    • Principles of Occupational Safety and Health Certification (POSH),
    • OSHA 30 Hour, and/or
    • Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician Certification (OHST)
    • Train the trainer designations related to Safety and Health
  • Experience with Federal Title V air permitting preferred
  • Experience in with State of Tennessee environmental regulatory agencies preferred
