Job Overview

The Quality Manager’s main objective is to build a culture of quality and develop a Quality Management System. The System integrates quality norms into all of our behaviors, to proactively partner with operations on product, process, documentation, and internal and external customer service satisfaction. The Quality Manager brainstorms and solves problems, recommends solutions, provides training and guidance for related thought processes and actions, and implements efficient solutions that continuously improve our high-quality production performance and customer satisfaction. In this role, you will develop long range department goals and strategies to support the company business objectives.

Highlights of your role

  • Develops and leads all aspects of the Quality Management System, including ISO certification.
  • Drives activities to improve quality products, processes, and systems to achieve all around company and customer satisfaction.
  • Provides leadership and supervision to the Quality Department while ensuring that they continuously bring expertise and innovation to the operation’s teams in all departments.
  • Research new technology trends in quality improvement methodologies and manufacturing processes, including implementation or referral to another department for feasibility studies with a strong partnership with Marvin R&D.
  • Analyzes product quality performance data to identify and drive improvements using quality metrics.
  • Identifies root causes and establishes corrective actions, as well as SOPs, and training programs.
  • Identifies gaps in Quality processes to build consistency in manufacturing while improving safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Creates and maintains Quality process mapping, flow diagrams, and work instructions to be consistent with current practices, design changes, and performance improvements.
  • Interacts closely with suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet specifications, as well as our Sales partners and customers, including customer site visits, to ensure our products meet their requirements.
  • Measures and reports progress on an on-going basis.
  • Works with product development, R&D, and operations to ensure appropriate quality control methods are in place for new and existing products.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by enforcing standards and procedures.
  • Promotes, educates, and instills a culture of waste identification and elimination throughout the manufacturing organization by utilizing Lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement principles.

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)

  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated through championing accountability, maximizing team and individual strengths, seeking, and implementing change, and aligning with critical plant and business objectives.
  • Hands-on, in-depth knowledge of lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Capable of leading and implementing the practical application of the full range of lean methods on the plant floor.
  • Experience implementing Lean practices in several different plants or operating environments preferred.
  • Proven experience in labor intense, highly manual operations environment.
  • Talent for recognizing better and innovative ways to accomplish objectives.
  • Demonstrated examples of implementations involving Quality structures, processes, systems, and attitudes.

Also want to make sure you have

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of proven experience and education. Engineering/Manufacturing related field preferred.
  • Communications proficiency in English and Spanish required.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/initiatives with budget limits and time constraints.
  • Strong computer skills and experience analyzing data to drive decisions.
  • Excellent project and time manager.
  • Proven ability to communicate within all levels of the organization.
  • At least six years of combined experience in Quality and Operations management in a manufacturing setting.
