Job Overview

The Lead Experience Designer will be responsible for developing design strategies for new-to-the-world digital products, services, and customer experiences. They will lead multi-disciplinary project teams focused on turning human insights and business needs into aspirational design visions and MVP definitions. They will also play a role in guiding development, based on design strategy, across the Marvin organization.

To be successful in this position, you have a passion for providing great customer experiences through a variety of mediums. You may have started your career as an Product/Service/UX/UI/Visual Designer, but by now, you’re fluent in the full design process—from research to strategy to implementation—and know how to empower and leverage a multidisciplinary team to achieve project goals. You thrive in solving complex, ambiguous problems by iterating, failing fast, and learning quickly.

You’ll work closely with other parts of the organization (Digital Product Management, Digital Center of excellence, Marketing, Sales, CX Management, etc.) to ensure solutions are not only desirable but also feasible, financially sustainable, and a strategic fit.

Highlights of your role

Experience Design

· You are responsible for the overall experience design output of your project team and can create aspirational design visions as well as sensible MVP definitions.

· Set the creative and strategic direction across design challenges: product, interaction, space, and service design with a focus on digital.

· Contribute to the creation of experience artifacts including archetypes, customer journeys, service blueprints, ecosystems, design artifacts, project briefs, prototypes etc.

· Passionate about making, prototyping, and continually evolving products (physical & digital), systems, services, and businesses throughout their life cycle.

· You excel at turning human insights into concrete design concepts, especially in the digital space.

· You are solution-focused and medium-agnostic, willing to step out of your core skill set or discipline to find the correct solution to a challenge.

· You’re a systems thinker and can logically visualize complex systems.

Project Team-Leadership · You’re a natural collaborator and a proven leader. You thrive leading and managing multidisciplinary teams.

· You lead project planning and facilitate the team through conducting and interpreting primary and secondary research to inform an experience strategy and design artifacts. Research methods include user and business stakeholder interviews, concept validation, and usability testing.

· You’re at ease distilling business, customer, and partner constraints into digestible components for the broader design team.

· You’re the team's face to the broader organization. You can craft compelling presentations and deliver them with clarity and confidence.

· You are comfortable running collaborative workshops and work sessions with internal and external teams.

· You believe the best design comes from healthy and happy teams. You build morale, offering emotional support in addition to design mentorship.

· You are comfortable managing administrative responsibilities such as project budgets, timelines and expenses, etc.

 

Organization-facing

· You are exceptional at building trust and partnerships with key stakeholders.

· Act as a customer advocate to build a customer-centric culture within Marvin.

· You can work thoughtfully with internal partners, always having an eye towards implementation, and designing with organizational constraints and needs in mind.

· You cultivate relationships and liaise with key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

· You are excited by the opportunity to define, refine and pioneer Marvin-specific innovation process alongside other key contributors of the organizational transformation.

Also want to make sure you have

You have:

· Bachelor’s degree in a Design related field, or an equivalent combination of education & experience.

· Minimum of 7 years of broad experience in the Digital Design space including both contributing to and managing teams.

· Demonstrated fluency in all phases of the human-centered design process from qualitative/quantitative research and synthesis to ideation, building to think, balancing constraints, and implementation.

· Confident presentation and storytelling abilities

· A strong desire to work on purpose-driven work and are excited by the mission to evolve a 100-year-old family company create new ways to impact people’s lives.

 

Bonus Points:

· Experience working products in the building industry or in-home experiences (physical/digital / services) with proven success

· Experience working on B2B tools

· Experience working in Architecture or adjacent fields

· You have a deep knowledge of interface design and can guide a team to create great work in addition to creating it yourself.
